Rather than relying on expensive devices or generic solutions, Mark’s approach emphasizes mindfulness, simplicity, and long-term management. Whether patients are in the early stages of tinnitus or seeking ongoing support, MPTinnitus offers a caring and personalized pathway to effective tinnitus relief.
How My Experience with Tinnitus Informs My Practice
One of the biggest challenges I faced early on with tinnitus was the lack of guidance. Many of my attempts to find solutions fell short, leaving me feeling isolated and frustrated. I now help others avoid that struggle by offering the support I didn’t have, focusing on practical strategies that work.
Mindfulness has become one of my key tools for long-term management, allowing me to check in with myself and address issues before they escalate. As a musician, I’ve also learned how to focus through tinnitus and, importantly, how to avoid blaming myself for the damage done. My personal experience shapes how I connect with patients, helping them move forward with compassion and understanding.
How Is MPTinnitus Different
Many traditional tinnitus practices follow a rigid, step-by-step approach, aiming to “fix” tinnitus. However, most cases require ongoing adaptation and a more flexible strategy. At MPTinnitus, we focus on managing tinnitus rather than simply masking or avoiding it. Our approach recognizes that each patient’s experience is unique, and we emphasize the importance of looking at the big picture to help patients move forward effectively.
We combine audiological expertise with approaches informed by principles of acceptance, cognitive methods, and mindfulness. By integrating these strategies and tailoring them to each individual, we offer a personalized plan to address both the auditory and emotional aspects of tinnitus. This comprehensive approach allows us to provide a flexible and supportive environment, helping patients achieve long-term relief.
What Does Mindfulness Have to Do with Tinnitus?
Mindfulness helps patients break the cycle of stress and anxiety that tinnitus often creates. By focusing on awareness rather than the loudness of the sound, mindfulness enables patients to recognize underlying stressors and regain control. It’s also a powerful tool for relapse prevention, helping to manage tinnitus flare-ups before they escalate.
How does MPTinnitus Work?
MPTinnitus operates as a telehealth-only practice, providing convenient access to tinnitus care through video or audio calls. Each session lasts 45 minutes and can cover a range of topics, either suggested by Dr. Partain or by the client, depending on individual needs and goals.
Tinnitus management services are available for clients in Illinois and Indiana, while tinnitus coaching services are provided to clients in other regions. Sessions are open-ended, allowing for one-on-one discussions tailored to each patient’s unique experience, ensuring that care is personalized and flexible.
